Little Shwiggitty Finds A Bloated Floater
Photoshop:
Layer 1: Scrapbook effect-color adjustments made to match the trees
Layer 2: St. Paul's Cathedral @ Cathedral Square, Milwaukee. Applied an effect/filter...can't remember what (sorry)...color adjusted towards a green low saturation
Layer 3 (Right Tree): Copy from another photo taken from St. Paul's inside the Meditation Garden...enlarged and eliminated other trees and background architecture, sometimes with that magenetic lasso that Michael was talking about (thank you, Teach!). Color adjusted.
Layer 4 (A few foreground leaves): Copied a few leaves, then magnetic lassoed the background and deleted it.
Layer 5 (Left Trees): Same as Layer 3
Layer 6 (Patch, the cat...or her stage name "Shwiggitty"): Cut from a photo taken in the kitchen...eliminated horrid white and grey square patterned linoleum tiles (can't I just do this in real life?) and decreased her size to fit her into the window, greened her up a bit to mesh better with the rest of the image...soft edger eraser in order to keep her softness
Layer 7 (The bloated floater): Tucked layer in between the Right tree and Leaves layer in order to create a little more depth. Erased the "Applebees" Logo off the balloon and cloned over companion shades over that area plus the reflection of my kitchen windows which glowed like bloated diamonds on the balloon...there must have been an easier and more direct way to do this! Increased saturation and lightened the balloon.
Layer 1: Painted a soft line underneath the edges of the image.
Something like that.
Tintern Abbey
It's always a challenge to shoot an image like this, due to the extreme lighting variation between the shaded interior and the brightly lit exterior. I shot this image slightly over-exposed, using the advantages of RAW image processing to my advantage. First, I bumped the exposure up another 1/2 step from the original to brighten the shadows a bit, then I selected the overexposed window scenes using PhotoShop's "magnetic lasso tool" and adjusted the levels to what you see here.
